The Pad: world's first 'cybertecture' apartment

The-Pad-WATERFRONT_dubai.jpg

The Pad, joining the Omniyat Properties roster of other creative names such as The Square and The Binary, is a futuristic-looking structure home to 230 apartments, built at a 7° tilt and packed to the gills with high-tech furnishings. The bathrooms, for example, are equipped with monitoring tools to help you watch your weight, temperature and other vitals. You'll also never eat alone with a teleconferencing-ready dining room, and the reactive lighting reflects your mood and the going-ons, such as a phone call. The living and dining rooms rotate, allowing you a 360° view of Dubai, though if you ever tire of it the windows are fitted with projection streams offering views of several major cities around the world. Sounds swanky.

The Pad is being built in Dubai and construction is set to finish sometime 2009, and won Best International Apartment at the CNBC International Property Awards.
